Born in Abu Dhabi in 1991, I am an artist living in London and working in oils, charcoal, and mixed media. In 2008 I moved to the UK where I graduated with a first-class degree in the History and of Art from the University of Kent in 2013. I have continued to develop my practice with the support of the Florence Academy of Art (2019), Putney School of Art (2020), and the ESOP (2023).
My practice begins with drawing from life—capturing friends, family, and acquaintances. These sketches form the foundations of my paintings, which I further develop through a process of collage. I develop the image intuitively, drawing on my memory of the sitting and knowledge of the person to continue creating the image.
Driven by a desire to capture unique expressions and universally relatable emotions, I consider drawing from life essential to my process. The fleeting nature of people's emotions and expressions motivates me to seize moments in time, and I am invigorated by the unknown and the unpredictability of the final image.
